Civil Society

We believe that civil society is a key stakeholder in peacebuilding. Whether as implementing partners in humanitarian and development programs or advocates for human rights and the rule of law, NGOs represent an essential cross-section of society as the primary agents and beneficiaries of peace.

The Institute for Global Policy works internationally and with local partners as part of the Global Partnership for the prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) network to enhance the PBC's work through meaningful consultation with civil society.

At the United Nations...
IGP convenes an informal working group of NGOs at UN headquarters in New York, where we lead efforts to ensure that civil society can contribute to and benefit from the Commission's work. Civil scoeity members frequently participate in PBC meetings.

...and around the globe.
With GPPAC, IGP helps NGOs in PBC countries effectively engage with national PBC processes. We support periodic consultations in PBC countries on peacebuilding priorities and implementation of peacebuilding frameworks. Our partners also support in-country NGO networks to ensure local civil society particiaption in national PBC processes.
